DSIC has developed the new technology and complete equipment for polyethylene coating on ship piping system successfully and set up a specialized production line of polyethylene coating. This is the first breakthrough in China, which has opened up a new prospect from having relied on the oversea polyethylene coating technology for years at one stroke. Furthermore, the integration of design and processing has been achieved, whose technical index takes a leading level in the peer manufacturing plant and technology home and abroad.

Since 2013, the Outfitting Company under DSIC has conducted technical development on polyethylene coating on ship piping system through the scientific research projects, where it has taken them three years to develop the new technology and complete equipment for polyethylene coating on ship piping system successfully and set up a specialized production line of polyethylene coating while studying the technology, preparing for the equipment and trial- manufacturing the products. This item of technology and equipment developed by the Outfitting Company is the first breakthrough in China, where they have come up with the quick processing technique in an innovative way, and worked out the complete specialized equipment for polyethylene coating on piping system. The working range of polyethylene coated piping covers DN40~DN1000 and max. 12m long steel pipes, especially for the complex and special piping with branch pipes and elbows, whose processing length reaches to 3.5m. They have also developed the complete equipment for polyethylene coating on serial piping to achieve the integration of design and processing, whose technical index takes a leading level in the peer manufacturing plant and technology home and abroad.

DSIC possesses the independent intellectual property right for this achievement, who have applied for 13 patents up to now. The overall technique is advanced internationally, part of which is in a leading position via the review and appraisal of experts. All processing index of product samples have passed the authoritative acceptance test from the 3rd party. This achievement has now been applied on serial products of VLCCs successfully, which has won an unanimous recognition of shipowners. 

The development of this project has broken the technical monopoly of foreign companies in this field. It’s the first time to achieve the localization in China, which has boosted the technical quality and level for domestic ship piping fabrication, and resulted in a positive and profound influence on technical change in the field of domestic piping anticorrosion.
