On Jan.9, 2017, the 55k DWT Chemical/Product Carrier ”Maritime Polaris” built for IMC Group by DSIC was signed for delivery. DSIC held a naming ceremony for the vessel on Jan.10, where DSIC leaders Yu Fengping, Cai Zhuyi and Deng Changlian attended the ceremony.
Up to now, the 55k DWT Chemical/Product Carrier is the world largest wide-beam chemical carrier built for IMC Group by DSIC. The vessel features in large cargo capacity, big deadweight, nice comfort and strong port worthiness, whose design inherits the idea of environmental protection and energy saving, and increase ship rapidity to the world advanced level and decrease daily fuel consumption through hull form optimization, adoption of Wartsila smart main engine, efficient propeller and integrated design of pre-shrouded stator and rudder fin, with its EEDI 32% lower than basic value to get to Phase 3 level.
In the construction of ”Maritime Polaris”, DSIC has borrowed many successful experiences from her sister vessels, such as in-dock production schedule, special coating organization, dismantling of cargo oil tank staging, and planning of cargo oil tank strength test to enable the pre-trial integrity of the vessel to be the best among the serial vessels. DSIC has overcome various difficulties so as to guarantee product quality and sea trial integrity, achieve zero pending delivery item and make a very good result in fine-looking shipbuilding.
