On Dec.13, the AJ46-2 self-elevating living platform built by DSIC has succeeded in leg erection at the wharf of No.2 Zone, which marks smooth completion of its launching works.
The AJ46-2 platform is the 3rd self-elevating living platform with adoption of launching mode of semi-submersible barge constructed by DSIC Offshore Structure Co., Ltd. at the cantilever yard. This platform is 65.25m length moulded, 62m breadth moulded, 8.00-7.75m depth moulded (centerline area-edge), 4.5m design draft, 147.4m overall leg length, 106.7m max. operating water depth(350 feet), 350-person complement(can be extended to 450 persons), -10℃ min. operational temperature, and 25-year design life.
Due to heavy launching workload, long process and complicated operational procedure by towing at the cantilever yard, the project team has been carefully planning and calculating the construction periods for every key process with proper reservation of rectification time 2 months ahead of schedule so as to accomplish the launching work of this platform safe and smooth. During the launching period by towing, the project team has detailed the construction procedure, optimized the resource allocation, and controlled the key processes with careful deployment, which has laid a good foundation for smoothly launching the AJ46-2 platform by towing.
