Recently, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd (“DSIC”) has released a piece of good news about the first 3,900TEU container vessel it has built for Pacific International Lines (PTE) Ltd. (“PIL”). The twisted rudder of the 3,900TEU container vessel, which is developed and designed by DSIC and owns proprietary intellectual property rights, has gained recognition by Lloyd’s Register and ship owners. It symbolizes the great success of another self-developed lift?\away hatch cover. 

The R&D and design of the hatch cover for 3,900TEU container vessel is the second lift-away hatch cover project that DSIC has successfully applied to vessels. It has been the third self-developed hatch cover project since 2010. Before that, DSIC has succeeded in developing the side rolling hatch cover for 82,000 DWT bulk carrier and gained recognition by DNV. DSIC has also successfully completed the R&D and design of the hatch cover for 6,600TEU container vessel and applied it to the vessel.
