DSIC on July16 held a naming and delivery ceremony for the 2nd 55k DWT chemical /product carrier Maritime Horizon constructed for Singapore-based IMC Group. The vessel is a shiptype newly developed and designed by DSIC to meet the market demand. During her construction, DSIC has been well planned and under innovation management to achieve M/E pre-assembly at its final-assembly site, complete the shafting load adjustment efficiently ready for delivery, strengthen the pre-trial clear ups for system integrity, finish strength test for all ballast tanks at quay prior to sea trial with a good status of integrity. During her sea trial, every builder has fully fulfilled his duty and responsibility, only taking 7 days to accomplish all inspection items. DSIC and IMC has had a time-honored tie-up from the earliest 46k DWT chemical/product carrier, 76k DWT product carrier to the 55k DWT chemical /product carrier named this time, where DSIC has constructed 30 vessels of 1737000 deadweight tons for IMC accumulatively, which fully indicates IMC’s support and trust on DSIC. The 55k DWT chemical /product carrier is the world largest tonnage IMO II wide-beam chemical tanker designed and built for IMC Group by DSIC, which features in big tank capacity, large deadweight, good comfort and strong port suitability. The design of the vessel inherits the philosophy of environmental protection and energy saving, which remarkably improves ship rapidity and reduces daily fuel consumption by a means of hull form optimization, Wartsila smart ME adoption, high-efficiency propeller, and integrated design of pre-shrouded vanes and rudder fins, whose rapidity reaches the international advanced level, and EEDI is 32% lower than the baseline value, attaining the Phase3 level.
