On May 29, DSIC inked the newbuilding contract with Singapore-based Cara Shipping company for two 113,000DWT LR2 Tankers, which is another type of eco-ship following VLCC to bag the orders successfully, newly developed for marketing by DSIC.

Based on the proper research and judgment on Aframax oil tanker market and scientific analysis on demand of major fleets, the main particulars of this shiptype has been adjusted by increasing the deadweight, improving the cargo hold capacity and lowering the draft so as to achieve a perfect upgrade in contrast with the former-generation Aframax, which has gained the favors from a great number of shipowners. Furthermore, the characteristics of low consumption, low cost and upgradability have highlighted her brilliantly.

Low consumption: at the stage of product development, effectively boost the fast performance and take a global lead in energy saving and emission reduction index by optimizing the hull forms and employing the smart new-type main engine, high-efficiency propeller and energy saving device; under the same condition, the daily fuel consumption has decreased by 25% with that for similar 110000DWT oil tankers currently in service. Low cost: at the stage of product development, actively control the cost from the very beginnings by achieving optimal configuration and arrangement of ship materials, equipment and systems and decreasing material quantity and redundancy scientifically and reasonably. Upgradability: at the stage of product development, fully take the product sustainability into account, easily ready for marketing the latest products in compliance with the requirements of NOx Tier III, HCSR, LNG READY and EEDI PHASE 3 from time to time.
