The 3rd International Ship Finance Forum of the Exim Bank of China entitled “Stand Together: Facing the Headwinds of Change was held in Beijing successfully on Oct.28. There were more than 360 participants from over 150 institutions, including government departments such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, People’s Bank of China, China Banking Regulatory Commission, industry associations, class societies, major shipowners domestic and overseas, and shipyards. The energy-saving VLCC developed by DSIC has won the Best Shiptype Award in the Forum, where GM Yu Fengping attended and accepted the award on behalf of DSIC.
DSIC is the first domestic shipyard to build VLCC, also the one with the highest performances in VLCC construction. Over the years, VLCC has become a proprietary brand putting into market in large volumes, especially, the latest developed new-type low-consumption and anti-sediment VLCC is leading domestic and first-class international for its comprehensive performance indicators, such as speed and fuel oil consumption. Through constant upgrade and optimization, DSIC has made its own VLCC brand favored by shipowners continually with an accumulative orderbook of over 80 VLCCs, whose building quantity has amounted to 10% of global VLCC fleet, enjoying a sound reputation worldwide. At the Shiptec China 2016 just closed in Dalian, DSIC published its upgraded VLCC, which not only has a safer hull structure in compliance with the most stringent international rules and conventions for environmental protection and emission reduction, but all performance indicators reach the world advanced level with EEDI to meet Phase 2 requirements. To make large oil tanker more economic, safer and efficient, DSIC will keep developing energy saving and smart applications so as to achieve more breakthroughs.
It is understood that it is the first time for the Forum to set up two awards of the Best Shiptype Award and the Best Shipowner Contribution Award, aimed to commend the enterprises who have made outstanding achievements for transformation and upgrade of the national ship industry. Meanwhile, the Forum is conducted in a form of distinguished guests’ theme statement combined with high-end dialogues. As an invited distinguished guest, DSIC GM Yu Fengping gave a lively discussion on hot topics, such as how to achieve win-win in cooperation with shipowners under current sluggish market, and how to enhance product and technical innovations so as to continually strengthen core competence and achieve transformation and upgrade, etc.
